Tiger Woods Affair and Voice Mail

Well, Tiger Woods has done it. Not only had an affair, but left a voice mail to vindicate it. Oh Tiger...now what? I have admired Tiger Woods for 10 years now, and still admire his golf, but he made a big mistake having an affair with Rachel Uchitel and now possible Jaimee Grubbs.

This is a personal matter, but he has made hundreds of millions because people watch him, with fame, comes transparency. It is unfortunate but it's life as we know it. I will never judge Tiger, nor will I give biased opinions. It is not my place to do so.

The media has had a field day with this. Websites like TMZ.com and HuffingtonPost.com are blogging on it daily, sometimes several times a day. Once the media gets ahold of something watch out. The other day I was in line at the grocery store, and to my horror, there was Tiger Woods on the cover of National Enquirer! I would never have thought I'd see the day that would happen.

What about the state of golf now? How will this impact the PGA Tour? I would not be surprised if Tiger pulls out of the '10 season completely. What would that do to golf? I can tell you, I wouldn't be near as interested, and would probably not watch it at all accept for the Majors.

This affair, voice mail and women coming out of the closet will affect millions of people (and kids) who idolized Tiger Woods. If my son was a bigtime golfer, and liked Tiger, I would sit him down and have a little discussion as to principles and ethics. Wouldn't you?

Tiger Woods in 2009 - Will This Be Remembered As a Good Or Great Year?

With the FedEx Cup playoffs underway, Tiger Woods' year on the golf circuit in 2009 is close to it's completion. Will this be remembered as a good or great year for Tiger?

Tiger Historically In the PGA Majors: In 2009, Tiger was unable to win any of the four golfing Major tournaments titles, (Masters, US Open, British Open, and PGA), adding to his career total. For the first time in Tiger's illustrious career, he gave up a lead which he held going into the final round at the season's final Major in August at the PGA tournament.

Previously, Tiger had been fourteen and zero in his career. Fourteen times he entered the final round of a Major either in the lead or tied. All fourteen times, Tiger took home the winner's trophy. That is until last month when a South Korean tour professional, Y.E. Yang was able to track Tiger down on Sunday at the Hazeltine C.C. outside of Minneapolis, MN. A dramatic chip-in shot from off of the green on the 14th hole for eagle in the final round helped proper Yang to victory.

Tiger Woods' Idol Jack Nicklaus: As golf enthusiasts know, Tiger Woods' childhood idol was the great Jack Nicklaus. Nicklaus holds the PGA record for having won eighteen Major titles during his career. Tiger Woods is in second place on the all-time list with fourteen Major titles on his resume. For years, Tiger has made it known to the media that his one career accomplishment that he would like to achieve is in breaking Nicklaus' record. Tiger gears his yearly schedule on the PGA circuit around the four Majors.

For the first time since 2004, Tiger had a year in which he did not win a Major title. Does that constitute Tiger having a disappointing year? Was his year only good? It would be interesting to ask Tiger that question. Tiger is an accomplished professional in his sport. He is diligent in putting in the work both on the course during practice, and in the gym where it is a fact that he is extremely dedicated towards his daily physical workout regimen. But, there is one factor that needs to be addressed in assessing Tiger's season.

Tiger Woods Knee Surgery In 2008: Last June, following his dramatic 18-hole playoff victory over Rocco Mediate in the US Open held at Torrey Pines, CA, Tiger had season ending knee surgery to replace a torn ACL ligament in his knee. Any athlete, who has ever had to go through the process of going through this surgery, knows that the difficult part lies with the grueling rehabilitation which follows.

Yes, the advancements in medical science has improved dramatically, compared to even 15 years ago with the procedure involved in the surgical replacement of the damaged knee ligament. But, follow-up therapy and the rehabilitation process involves months of the athlete pushing him/herself both physically and mentally to complete the recovery.

Swing Changes adapted for 2009 Season: In addition to countless hours going through the rehab process, when Tiger was able to get on the course again, he had to undergo a swing change to take pressure off of his knee. Tiger, who long has been known for long and prodigious drives off of the tee, is able to do so through the tremendous torque that he achieves during the swing process involving his body.

For years, this torque produced a great deal of strain on his body, particularly on his knees with every shot that he hit off of the tee. In order for Tiger to sustain his excellence on the PGA tour, and enjoy a lengthy career as a professional, he realized that his swing needed to be tweaked in the hopes of preventing further injuries.

Tiger Woods' Results In 2009: Tiger returned to the tour in February. Yes, Tiger did not win any one of the four Majors. But, he did win five other tournaments. No other golfer on tour has won more than two. He is the leading money winner on tour this year. Although he did not win the opening tournament in the FedEx playoffs, in which he finished in a tie for second place, he is still in the lead in points which will decide the playoff winner; and he does so by a wide point margin.

Conclusion: So, despite Tiger not being able to add another Major title trophy to put on his mantle, with all that he has accomplished some fifteen months after major knee surgery, it would appear that Mr. Woods indeed had more than just a good year.

9) Tiger Woods 9th favorite hole is the 12th Hole at Augusta National Golf Course called "Golden Bell", a par 3, 155 yards. According to Augusta National the hole is a bear to play because of the swirling winds. It's all about distance judgment here. The serene picturesque trees, water and azaleas prove that beauty can be a bear.
